Lagata

Bordeado de olivos y de la privilegiada huerta, este municipio recibe al visitante con la abundancia de sus alimentos y su rico pasado.

Located in the centre of the Campo de Belchite Region, Lagata is one of the municipalities favoured by the course of the Aguasvivas River. The low-lying fertile land traced by this river in Lagata is planted with fruit trees and a varied market garden that is used by all the people from Lagata.

Just two kilometres away from Letux, this municipality is accessed by a road flanked by olive trees, a very beautiful route that shows the economic importance in this territory of olives and their by-product, the Extra Virgin olive oil.

Continuing along the road to enter the municipality, visitors will encounter one of the most outstanding buildings, the Baroque style parish church of the Exaltación de la Santa Cruz. If visitors decide to wander along the streets of Lagata, they will probably be accompanied along their way by a pleasant smell of bread made in a firewood oven, as one of the bakeries that preserve the traditional bread making methods still exists in Lagata.

And although this municipality is one of the less populated of the region, there are many initiatives for visitors. On the one hand, El Baúl de Lagata, an interpretation centre that narrates the history and tradition of this municipality. Another of the attractions is the Lagatavajunto reggae festival. And soon, Lagata will excel due to an offer that is not very traditional in steppe territory: A golf course, right next to the town centre.
