Samper del Salz

Antiguos molinos, la silenciosa orilla del Aguasvivas o el museo dedicado al pintor Antonio Fortún son algunos de los puntos de interés de esta localidad.

This cute municipality is divided into two parallel districts. On the one hand, the Calle Mayor, lined with such significant buildings as the Baroque style parish church of San Pedro, with its papal shield on the front door. Further on, the Espacio Fortun, with its permanent exhibition of the  work of Antonio Fortun, a painter born in Samper del Salz in 1945.

On the other side, the Aguasvivas. This small tributary of the Ebro river flows silently around the village, leaving beautiful scenes all year round. Associated with the water development schemes, we find several constructions, such as an aqueduct or the mill, the oldest to be built by the Rueda Abbey in the 13th century, which has undergone considerable reforms.

Another of the curiosities of this village is the tower of the old priory, of which only a few arches remain, challenging the passage of time and accompanying the slim tower in its desire to remain upright.
