SAN RAFAEL CONVENT

The San Rafael convent, located in the old town of Belchite, was opened in 1781 and until the civil war it was inhabited by Dominican Nuns, after which they moved to a newly built convent in the new town. It is situated right opposite San Martin de Tours church and it has two clearly differentiated parts. On the one hand, the convent rooms, and on the other, the Baroque style church, both in ruins. The church was built by Nicolas Bilsa and it was finished in 1777.  It was comprised of 3 naves and on the façade there is a shield of Bishop Galindo, which is preserved today in the new convent.
