He was the first great athlete born in Aragon. Born in 1890 and known as “El Campana” (the Bell), he was an extraordinary runner of walking races, “pollaradas” (chicken races).  He was the Aragonese cross-country champion and the Spanish marathon champion. In 1924, he competed in the marathon of the Paris Olympic Games, finishing in an excellent ninth place. He was selected for the Amsterdam Olympic Games of 1928 but an illness prevented him from taking part. He died in Codo in 1943 at the age of 59.
