OUR LADY DEL PUEYO SANCTUARY
Built on a Roman archaeological site, still not excavated, it is one of the most important Baroque sanctuaries in Aragon. With a square ground plan (20 x 20 m), it has four chapels with their relative domes and it preserves two altarpieces (one devoted to the Pilar and the other to Ntra. Sra. del Pueyo). Perhaps the most outstanding aspect of the entire ensemble is the quadrangular, Mudejar style, 16th century tower. The ensemble, as we see it today, was inaugurated on 25 May 1725 by the archbishop of Zaragoza, Manuel Perez de Araciel. In 1745 it received the title of Basilica, granted by the archbishop of Zaragoza, Francisco Añoa y Busto.
