REPUBLICAN FORTRESSES IN FUENDETODOS
Fuendetodos was a Republican enclave, flanked by Belchite and Villanueva de Huerva, which both belonged to the national side. The Republicans built important fortresses which were located on the north-east – south-west hillsides of the Cerro de Sierra Gorda, and of which stone forts are preserved today. At the highest points, there are remains of what were probably rooms for the troops and a lookout is preserved in the Cabezo de Fronton.
